What is the scientific name for mold and or mildew that grows in the shower/bathroom and also in basements?

I have a cat who is allergic to 5 different types of mold, but I only have the scientific names of them. I live in a basement apartment so I am trying to figure out if he is allergic to anything in my home. If you do not know the names, but know where i can find this info- that would also be very helpful.

As far a practical responses, check out the remarkable research on toxic mold removal done by environmental expert Dr Ed Close. Simply diffusing Thieves essential oil regularly will likely result in an environment very hostile to mold.

Cost of the Thieves Household Cleaner, a diffuser and a couple bottles of the Thieves oil that Dr Close recommends to his remediation clients: about $250.

Reply:I believe the two you are looking for are:

Stachybotrys is a black or greenish black slimy mold associated with prolonged water damage - that would likely be the basement one.

Yellow Cladosporium (Clados or Klados mean sprout/branch) mold can be found anywhere indoors, including on textiles, bathroom tiles, wood, moist windowsills and any wet areas in a home.

But even if these two are not on your list you should get them out of your house as they are not good for you either.
