What is the scientific name for a consumer?
Actually, a consumer isn't necessarily someone who hunts or searches for their own food, they just don't make it themselves.

Heterotroph

Reply:There are different types of consumers.

Primary consumers eat plants or general organisms that produce their own food (autotrophs)

Secondary consumers eat primary consumers.

If you want the proper names - organisms that produce their own food are normally known as "autotrophs" and organisms that rely on other sources are known as "heterotrophs".

P.S: Wikipedia has a pretty good diagram, if you look up "heterotroph".
Reply:heterotroph? Heterotrophs cannot make their own food and depend on autotrophs.
