Reply:Gulo is Latin for 'glutton', meaning one who eats a lot, and is a reference to the legendary ravenous appetite of the beastie.

You may also see references to the North American wolverine as Gulo luscus. There are some who split the Eurasian and North American populations into separate species, however most agree that they are just subspecies of the same species. So the Eurasian wolverine would be Gulo gulo gulo, while the North American subspecies is Gulo gulo luscus.

(BTW: luscus means "one-eyed", and I have no idea why this name was given to the North American wolverine).
Reply:glutton??
