If so, what is it called ?
Is there a scientific name for the state you are in just before you're about to fall asleep ?
You're probably talking about somnolence or drowsiness, the N1 stage of NREM sleep. See the first reference for more detail. In common usage, drowsiness refers to being still awake but very sleepy, and thus very inattentive. That's probably closest to the answer to your question.
