Scientific name???

hi i am in 7th grade and i am doing this weird worksheet on a redtailed fox, the animal i picked to research for science class. um i cannot find its scientific name!!! help??!!?! do you no it or can u find it???!?!

Scientific name???
I think this is called the red fox (not redtailed fox ... perhaps you are getting confused with the red-tailed hawk).

The scientific name Vulpes vulpes. (Incidentally, it is traditional to capitalize the genus name and non-cap the species name ... specifically for cases like this where they are both the same. The abbreviation is V. vulpes.)

There are *many* subspecies of the red fox.

Here's a great place to *start* your research:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_fox

But don't just copy, or rely on, wikipedia (or any encyclopedia). Teachers are onto that.
Reply:Vulpes vulpes (European)

Vulpes fulva (North American)
Reply:Vulpes vulpes
Reply:Red fox, in the family Canidae

Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)
Reply:Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Chordata

Class: Mammalia

Order: Carnivora

Family: Canidae

Tribe: Vulpini

this is for the fox, not red tailed, thats the best i can do, try wikipedia
