How do I find the meaning of a scientific name?

I am looking for the meaning of Grus Canadensis, which is the scientific names for the Sandhill crane, why is it this? Or, does anyone know of any good websites for looking it up?

How do I find the meaning of a scientific name?
Scientific names are in Latin, so if you find a site that will translate Scientific names are in Latin, or the Latin form of a non-Latin word. So if you can find a site that translates Latin, you're in luck. See first link below.

Grus is Latin for crane (see second link below).

Canadensis probably refers to the country of Canada, where the crane can be found. Often, the last word in a scientific name will be the proper name of a person or a place, i.e., not a real Latin name, so you may not be able to translate it. You might find a reference to it by doing a Google search, though.
